When I purchased Houdini I promised Cheryl Wilson (Bristol Pony Farm) that my children would not ride him as he was 28 years old. However the next summer I was in my kitchen doing dishes and noticed Lara (who was 10 years old at the time) hauling the grooming box out to Houdini's pasture. She worked endlessly on him while he continued to graze. A while later I looked up from the sink to see Lara lying on Houdini's back, her head resting on his rear and her arms hanging off to the side. She was asleep. Meanwhile Houdini continued grazing and swishing his tail as if this was the normal everyday routine. This is vintage Lithgow Houdini! He was the epitome of welsh ponies. He embodied everything that makes Welsh perfect for children. In 1994 Houdini worked his magic and produced our champion stallion Glynmagic Copper Comet. Lithgow Houdini passed away in 1999. His last foals were born in 2000. We miss Houdini and are eternally grateful to him.
